How to Play on SkyfallSMP

Step 0: Do you have Java Edition?

SkyfallSMP Season 4 is Java Edition only. Make sure you have Java Edition.

Step 1: Download Prism Launcher

The default Minecraft launcher sucks, so let's replace that. This launcher allows easy installing of mods, which will be very useful soon

Make sure you know where you saved the file, we will need it later. For help with installing Prism Launcher, visitprismlauncher.org

Step 2: Installing Java (again)

You already should have Java installed, but let's install it again anyways.

> Windows computers: Download Javahere.Look for the "x86 64-bit" version, then click Download ".msi".
> MacOS computers: Download Javahere.If your MacBook is an M1, M2, or M3 MacBook, then download "ARM 64-bit". Otherwise, install x86 64-bit.

Open the Java installer and follow the instructions.

Step 3: Set Up Prism Launcher

Now that you have downloaded Prism Launcher and installed Java, it's time to setup Prism Launcher.

Open the installer you downloaded earlier. When on the Java menu, select the Java installation that says version 17.x.x. If you have multiple Java installations, any is fine. Next, check how much memory your computer has:

> Windows computers: Search for "About your PC". Your total memory is listed next to "Installed RAM".
> MacOS computers: On the top navigation bar, cick on the Apple logo in the top left corner. Click on "About This Mac", your memory total is listed.

Now with your total amount of memory, you will allocate half of it to Minecraft.
> If you have 4GB of memory total: Type "2048" in Maximum memory allocation
> If you have 8GB of memory total: Type "4096" in Maximum memory allocation
> If you have 12GB of memory total: Type 6144" in Maximum memory allocation
> If you have 16GB of memory total: Type "8192" in Maximum memory allocation

Step 4: Sign into Prism Launcher

In the top right corner, click on "Profiles", then click on "Manage Profiles". To add your account, click on "Add Microsoft" and follow the steps.

Step 5: Import the SkyfallMC Server Profile

The SkyfallMC Server Profile is a collection of mods that will improve your server experience. It includes a zoom mod (press C to zoom), a voice chat mod, and performance mods. Download ithere.

On the top bar, click on "Add Instance", then click on "Import from zip". Click on Browse and double click on your zip folder to select it. Click on OK to finish importing the profile.

Step 6: Configure Minecraft

Double click on the icon to launch the profile and customize the settings to your liking. Feel free to add shaders in the "Shaders" tab in Video Settings. With the profile open, go to Resource Packs and enable "Default Connected Textures" and "Glass Pane Culling Fix".

Click on Multiplayer, ignore the warning, and join the server. Once in the Hub, press V to open the voice chat settings. Customize the settings until you are happy with the voice chat.

You're done!

Use Prism Launcher and the profile to play on SkyfallMC. Have fun!

Keep in mind that as the profile updates, mods will be changed and the new version will have to be downloaded. When downloading and importing the new version of the profile, your customizations will not transfer. Be warned!
